Guide

Getting paid is easy.
Two minutes and you're done.

Whether you're hosting games or running a society, setting up payments means your players can pay by card and you get paid straight to your bank. Here's how it works.

How it works

We use Stripe to handle all payments. It's the same platform used by Amazon, Deliveroo, and thousands of other businesses. Your card details never touch our servers.

1

Connect your bank account

Click "Set Up Payments" on your profile page (for game hosting) or in your society settings (for events). Stripe will ask for your name, date of birth, and bank details. Takes about two minutes.

2

Set a price

When you post a game or create an event, set the price per spot. Players see the breakdown clearly before they pay, including a small booking protection fee.

3

Players pay by card

When you accept a player, they get a "Pay to confirm" button. They pay through Stripe's secure checkout. No chasing bank transfers, no "I'll get you on the day."

4

Money is held safely

For games, payments are held until you mark the game as completed. This protects players - if something goes wrong, they get a full refund. Once the game is done, the money is released to your bank automatically.

Two ways to get set up

Depends on whether you're hosting games or running a society. You can do both.

Game hosts

Hosting a round and want to charge for green fees or buggies? Connect Stripe on your profile and set a price when you post the game.

  • Go to your profile and click "Set Up Payments"
  • Complete the Stripe form (2 mins)
  • Post a game with a price - that's it

Payments are held until the game is marked complete, then released to your bank.

Society organisers

Running events and want members to pay online? Connect Stripe in your society settings. Green fees, food, comp entries - all collected automatically.

  • Go to your society settings
  • Click "Set Up Payments" in the Payments section
  • Complete the Stripe form - events can now take payments

Society payments go straight to your account with a small 2% platform fee.

Common questions

What does it cost me?

Nothing to set up. Stripe charges their standard processing fee (1.4% + 20p per UK card payment). For society events there's a 2% platform fee. For games, there's no platform fee - players pay a £2.50 booking protection fee on top of your price.

What information do I need?

Your name, date of birth, address, and UK bank details (sort code and account number). Stripe needs this for identity verification. It takes a couple of minutes.

When do I get paid?

For games, money is held until you mark the game as completed, then released to your bank. For society events, payments arrive in your account on Stripe's standard schedule (usually 2-3 working days).

What if I need to cancel a game?

If you cancel a game, all players who've paid are automatically refunded in full - including the booking protection fee. No admin needed on your side.

What's the booking protection fee?

Players pay £2.50 on top of the game price. This covers cancellation and no-show protection. If a game doesn't go ahead, they get a full refund. It's about trust - players are more likely to pay upfront when they know they're covered.
