About us
We're golfers who got fed up
and decided to fix it.
The Birdie Club wasn't born in a boardroom. It started on the course, probably around the 14th, after another row about whether someone had a 5 or a 6. The organiser was still chasing bank transfers from the last event.
How it started
We run golf societies. Have done for years. And for years we've been doing it the same way everyone else does. WhatsApp groups, spreadsheets, notes on the back of scorecards, and a kitty that nobody really trusts.
Every golf day was the same. Spend a week chasing people to confirm. Spend another week chasing payments. Turn up on the day and hope someone remembered to print the scorecards. Then afterwards, try to work out who won from a card that got rained on by the 9th.
And when it wasn't society days, we just wanted a game. But finding people to play with was a whole other problem. Scrolling through Facebook groups, posting in forums, hoping someone fancies the same course on the same day.
None of it was hard on its own. But all of it together was a proper pain. So we built the thing we wished existed. One place to run your society, find a game, or get someone else to sort the whole thing out for you.
The founders
Real golfers. Real people.
The Birdie Club started with three brothers and a mate. Two of the brothers have been playing together since they could swing a club, running societies, playing opens, chasing each other's handicaps. The third doesn't actually play golf (yet), but he's the one who built the app and he's at every golf day. Add in a lifelong friend of the eldest brother, and you've got the founding team.
Between the founders and a couple of shareholders who believed in the idea early on, we've got a small group of people who genuinely care about making golf easier and more fun. We test every feature on the course ourselves. If it's annoying, we notice. If it's useful, we use it.

What we're about
Built by golfers, for golfers
We use it ourselves
Every feature exists because we needed it. We're not guessing what golf societies want. We are one. If something's annoying, we notice it before anyone tells us.
Keep it simple
Golf's complicated enough. The tools around it shouldn't be. If your mate who still uses a flip phone can't figure it out, we've got it wrong.
Free to use
Setting up your society, running events, scoring, payments. All free. We take a small cut on card payments and that's it. No subscriptions, no hidden fees, no "premium tier" where the useful stuff lives.
We actually listen
Got an idea? Something not working how you'd expect? Tell us. We're a small team and we move fast. Half the features on here came from someone saying "wouldn't it be great if..."
Not just societies
You don't need a society to use The Birdie Club. If you just want a game, post one. Set the course, pick a date, say how many spots. People nearby can request to join. Social, competitive, beginner friendly. Whatever you're after.
Want to charge for the round? Connect your bank account in two minutes and set a price. Players pay securely online, and you get paid once the game is done. We hold the money for 48 hours after so everyone's protected.
And if you don't want to organise anything at all, our booking team will do it for you. Tell us what you want. How many players, what area, what budget. We'll ring around, get quotes, and send you the options. You pick one, pay online, and we handle the rest.
Score every round
Whether it's a society comp, an open game, or just a casual 9 holes on your own - log your scores on the course. Stableford or medal, 9 or 18 holes. Tap your score hole by hole and the app does the rest.
Every round feeds into your handicap suggestion, calculated using the World Handicap System formula. The more you play, the more accurate it gets. No need to keep a separate record anywhere else.
For society events, scores go straight to the live leaderboard. Share a code and everyone in the group follows along in real time. The banter starts before you're off the 18th.

Stop chasing bank transfers.
Start playing golf.
Find a game, start a society, log your scores, or let us book the whole thing. Free to use. Takes 30 seconds.
